EAST KIRKBY

For our trip on Saturday we booked a visit to the Aviation Heritage Center at East Kirkby
We where made to feel very welcome indeed by Fred Panton and all his staff at the center, The Museum boasts a fantastic collection of artifacts ranging from uniforms, Flying equipment, and various aircraft parts not to mention the original control tower and buildings and of course the Avro Lancaster "Just Jane".
Although it was early in the year the weather was superb with glorious sunshine, and to our amazement Fred brought "Jane" out of the hangar especially for the group to have photos taken . So keen was Fred he even supplied "widget" the black Labrador for our group photo with "Just Jane". We where invited back to attend the Lancaster Taxi event's throughout the year two of which we have already done and we are looking forward to the remaining event's.
I would like to thank on behalf of OPS 39-45 RAF Living History Group, Fred Panton and all his Staff for making our Day at East Kirkby such a momentous one and for giving us the opportunity to attend the taxi runs throughout the year.
